Beautiful handcarved wooden statue of Ganesh

This is a stunning statue of sitting posture of Ganesh hand carved with utter precision by one of our profound carvers of Nepal.

The statue represents the sitting posture of the Ganesh. The Big head of the Ganesh inspires to think big, Large ears of Ganesh teaches us to listen more. . The Ganesh has four hands in which he is holding praying bead necklace on one forehand and axe on the other. The front hands of the Ganesha is holding his favorite sweet modak (dumpling) and is holding feather (used as a pen) on the right hand.

Ganesh the elephant headed god of wisdom and success, is the defender and the remover of obstacles, and has to be propitiated first before worship to other gods is offered. He is extremely popular in the Kathmandu valley and his image is found everywhere, including innumerable roadside shrines as well as the entrance to many Buddhist temples where he is often placed opposite of Mahakala (a wrathful form of Shiva, considered also a defender).
