Beautiful Newari Grilled Window (Ankhi Jhya)

Traditional Hand Carved Ankhi Jhyal (Grilled Window)

This is a replica of Ankhi Jhyal also known as Tiki Jhya locally, used in traditional houses of the Newar community. It consists of carving details of dragon and Naag (serpent) on both side of the window along with peacock on the top corners and Hittimanga(mythical Newari creature placed on stone taps) on the bottom corners of the window along with other intricated details on the window.

This window is typically known as a second-floor window since it's placed on the second floor of the house.  It consists of a wooden grid letting fresh air and light in but not the curious gaze of passers-by.

It could be a wonderful piece of decoration for wall hanging on your office wall or decoration for your room displaying a piece of rich Newari architecture in your room.
